The Johns Hopkins Interdisciplinary Psychiatry and Neuroscience T32 Training Program has immediate openings for post-doctoral fellows with PhD or MD degrees, or the equivalent, to study the neurobiology and pathogenesis of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and related disorders. Eligibility is limited to US citizens and permanent residents. Candidates must be within 3 years of completing their doctoral degree or residency, and may not have received previous postdoc training grant funds. The program is typically for two years.
Post-doctoral fellows will have the opportunity to work with experienced mentors on basic or clinical translational projects. Projects may include advanced human and animal neuroimaging, cell and animal models of genetic risk factors for disease, electrophysiology, molecular biology and gene editing, metabolic analysis, transcriptomics and proteomics, and protein biochemistry. Qualified individuals with experience in any of these modalities are particularly encouraged to apply. Program faculty work with the patient populations under investigation, facilitating the interface between clinical and laboratory investigations.
Trainees will have access to a large number of Core services, the imaging expertise of the F.M. Kirby Center, and the opportunity to participate in regular seminars at Johns Hopkins and national and international conferences. Part of the program includes regular presentations of research plans, work in progress, and completed studies to peers and faculty, as well as training in responsible conduct of research. Previous post-doctoral fellows have obtained faculty appointments at Johns Hopkins and other academic institutions, as well as excellent positions in industry and the NIH.
