The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen officially announced the establishment of the School of Life and Health Sciences on November 14th, 2018, which is the fourth school of CUHK-Shenzhen proceeded by the School of Management and Economics (SME), the School of Sciences and Engineering (SSE), and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), offering educational programs from baccalaureate to graduate degrees.

Inheriting the excellent academic traditions and rigorous academic spirit of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, established upon the research foundations of the three Nobel Prize Research Institutes, aiming at the frontiers and long-term goals of the disciplines, the School of Life and Health Sciences shall offer undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees. The Academic Board of the Chinese University of Hong Kong takes charge of the approval and supervision of degree programs, guiding and managing teaching and teaching-related matters, and supervising the level of CUHK-Shenzhen degree qualification. CUHK-Shenzhen graduates are awarded degree certificates by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Currently, the School of Life and Health Sciences offers four undergraduate programs in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Science and Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science and Biological Sciences, and one MPhil-PhD Program in Biological Sciences. Newly added program in 2022 includes one MSc Program in Bioinformatics (jointly offered with School of Data Science).

Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor Senior lecturer/Lecturer, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen

Established in 2014, CUHK-Shenzhen is a research-intensive university that inherits the fine academic traditions of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The University adopts a tenure-track system for Assistant Professors and above. English is the main language for classroom teaching, and graduates receive degrees of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Scope of Recruitment

Bioinformatics. The ideal candidates should demonstrate research interests and teaching potentials in bioinformatics and related fields including data mining, machine learning and mathematical modeling focusing on biological sciences.

Biomedical Engineering. Jointly developed by the School of Life and Health Sciences (LHS) and School of Science and Engineering (SSE), this program is recruiting faculty members with teaching and research interests in biomechanics, tissue engineering, biomaterials, regenerative medicine, biomedical imaging, nanomedicine, biosensors and bio-robotics, and systems and synthetic biology.

Pharmaceutical Science. The applicants are expected to teach and conduct research in pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics, biologics and immunotherapy, and pharmacy administration.

Position Requirements

Qualified candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science and/or related disciplines, postdoctoral training and work experience. 

Applicants for Professors and Associate Professors should have an established research program with funding history, teaching experiences and an excellent publication record. 

Lecturer and Senior Lecturer positions are also available for candidates with teaching experience in biomedical engineering.
