St. Thomas Aquinas College invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Exercise Science, to begin September 2022.
Situated in the College’s new STEM School, this position will serve our undergraduate programs in Exercise Science and General Education. The successful candidate will teach courses such as Fundamentals of Personal Wellness, Human Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, Motor Development and Learning, and Adapted Fitness. Additional courses must satisfy program needs, but may be tailored to the candidate’s teaching interests and strengths. Supervision of student internship experiences is also expected, as well as playing a role in managing the Exercise Science laboratory facility. A willingness to engage students in research or project-based learning is preferred. Experience with scientific reasoning courses and outcomes assessment for a General Education audience is a plus.
Faculty duties include a 4:4 teaching load, student advisement, committee service, and curriculum development. The College prides itself on the high quality of the teaching of its faculty as well as on their scholarly contributions to their discipline; so successful candidates should address both areas in their application. College teaching experience and a PhD in Kinesiology or Exercise Science from an accredited institution are required; however, an advanced ABD will be considered with evidence of dissertation status.
Application process: A cover letter addressing the applicant's credentials and experiences as they relate to the position; a statement of teaching philosophy; curriculum vitae; sample course outline; and three letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses the applicant's teaching should be sent to Dr. Bianca Wentzell, Interim Dean of the School of STEM, at bwentzel@stac.edu by November 15, 2021.
