As part of the University of Georgia’s Precision One Health Hiring Initiative, the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy and the Department of Infectious Diseases in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia invite applications for a full-time tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor.  We seek an individual who will build and maintain a strong extramurally funded research program focused on antimicrobial drug discovery.  The successful candidate will build on the research strengths in the Departments, which include strong active research programs in medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, animal models of antimicrobial resistance, novel drug discovery, origins of antimicrobial resistance, and therapeutics for emerging infectious diseases.  A commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels within the Colleges of Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine is required.  The position includes a competitive salary, excellent laboratory space, and a generous start-up package.  Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a medicinal chemistry or chemical biology related field, have at least two years of postdoctoral training, and a strong publication record.  Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement (maximum 3 pages), teaching philosophy, and diversity statement.  Additionally, applicants should arrange to have three confidential letters of recommendation submitted.  Applications must be submitted through UGA Jobs at https://www.ugajobsearch.com/postings/228144.  Application materials submitted in other ways will not be accepted.  Initial consideration of applications will begin December 1st and continue until the position is filled.
