Post-Doctoral Scientist

A two-year Postdoctoral Scientist position in the Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics at Texas A&M University is available in the laboratory of Dr. Dorothy Shippen to study the structure and regulation of the telomerase RNP complex in Arabidopsis.  Dr. Shippen pioneered the use of Arabidopsis as a biochemical and genetic model for telomere biology. This study is part of an NSF-funded research project in collaboration with the laboratory of Dr. Julian Chen (Arizona State University), an expert in telomerase RNA structure and evolution.  The successful candidate will be an ambitious, highly motivated, highly collaborative scientist with expertise in RNA and protein biochemistry.  Expertise in Arabidopsis genetics is preferred, but not required. The fellow will join a vibrant research team analyzing the composition, biogenesis and regulatory mechanisms of telomerase using a multidisciplinary approach that employs genetics, molecular biology, in vitro biochemical assays, quantitative mass spectrometry and structural biology (see for example Song et al., 2019 PNAS and Song et al., 2021 NAR).
