Senior Associate Scientist, Translational Gene Therapy AAV (non PhD)

What You Will Achieve

Pfizer's Rare Disease Research Unit (RDRU) focuses on developing drugs for treating rare diseases. The Gene Therapy Translational Research group is part of the RDRU focused on gene transfer approaches to treat rare genetically defined diseases that focus on the CNS, neuromuscular, and liver (systemic and metabolic) therapeutic areas. The Senior Associate Scientist will work as part of a team to explore Pfizer's RNA based approaches to treat rare diseases. As a member of the team developing RNA therapeutics you will perform biochemical and molecular biological assays to create and evaluate constructs in vitro and in vivo. The role requires extensive knowledge and expertise in plasmid design, cloning, RNA methodologies, PCR assays, cell culture, ELISA, and Flow cytometry. Experience with next generation sequencing and data analysis is preferred. The Senior Associate Scientist will write protocols, perform the studies, write reports and present their work to team members.

How You Will Achieve It

• Design plasmid constructs utilizing a variety of molecular biology techniques
• Execute in vitro and vivo studies
• High throughput screening of disease targets
• Perform various biochemical, cell biology, molecular biology, and immunology assays
• Communicate findings to larger team members

Qualifications

Must-Have

• BS in the life sciences field with 3+ years or MS Degree with relevant experience in molecular and cell biology
• Prior experience in plasmid design, cloning, cell culture, ELISA, western blotting, qPCR, and/or RTPCR.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills

Nice-to-Have

• Prior experience in rare disease, flow cytometry, NGS, animal models.
