The University of Houston Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EAS) and the Institute of Climate and Atmospheric Sciences (ICAS) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Atmospheric Science at the assistant professor level. The position is within the Presidential Frontier Faculty program. The Presidential Frontier Faculty program is a university-wide integrated interdisciplinary hiring campaign that is overseen by central university leadership, and encompasses hiring a large cohort of convergence research faculty to work on health, energy, sustainability and security.

This position seeks a researcher who can bring a multidisciplinary and externally funded research program in the field of climate modeling and climate dynamics with an emphasis on the ecological and societal effects of changing climates.  Areas of expertise may include but are not limited to: Earth system modeling, large-scale and/or regional climate dynamics, terrestrial-marine-atmospheric interactions, clouds in the climate system, climate change and precipitation, boundary layer dynamics, and/or attribution science.

Candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses, such as climate change,  climate dynamics and physics, climate modeling, and additional courses in the candidate's specialty.  Candidates would develop and teach a collaborative course on the societal and/or ecological impacts of climate change.

The successful candidate is expected to build active collaborations within and outside the university, to develop externally funded research programs that are internationally recognized, to teach graduate and undergraduate level courses that bridge theory and practical applications in the atmospheric and geological sciences. EAS has a vibrant research environment covering Earth & Energy Resources, Earth & Planetary Dynamics, and Atmospheric & Earth Surface Systems and offers a wide range of opportunity of collaborations.
