The Department of Physiology & Biophysics at the University of Washington invites applications for a full time, tenure-track assistant professor position with an anticipated start date of September 2022. Tenure track faculty have an annual service period of twelve months (July 1 – June 30).
The Department of Physiology & Biophysics is built on the principles of integrity and service. These principles are the foundation of our contributions to the State of Washington, the UW, the international science community, and the broader public. Our mission centers on three areas. Discovery: to explain physiological processes at the molecular, cellular, tissue, and organismal levels. Training: to provide high-quality, rigorous training that prepares students and postdoctoral scholars for science- and medicine-related careers. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent research program, to contribute to the teaching responsibilities of the department through existing or new courses, and to contribute to the department’s commitment to service within the School of Medicine, the University of Washington or the greater Seattle community.
We welcome applications from individuals with research interests that complement and extend the department’s current activities. Work in the department spans a wide range – including questions about many different biological systems at scales ranging from molecular to systems. Our search will be similarly broad.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in a relevant field. A MD degree or M.D./ Ph.D (or foreign equivalents) are also acceptable.
