What You Will Achieve

As a member of the Pfizer team, you will serve as a key driver in harnessing external innovation and strengthen Pfizer Worldwide Research and Development's pre-clinical pipeline. Your work supports clinical testing by performing a combination of quasi-technical services and administrative tasks, leveraging your knowledge of various technical specialties. You will provide science and technology expertise and all associated aspects of characterization technologies used in support of the development, characterization a nd commercial manufacturing support of Pfizer products.

As Executive Director, your innovative ideas and creative decision-making lead the strategic direction of your division. Your ability to leverage constructive relationships across divisions will help you maximize the resources available within the organization . Your ability to exercise foresight and judgment in initiating, planning, organizing a nd guiding complex projects in unprecedented situations shall be critical to the achievement of the division.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Lead strategic direction including business performance and financial management for highly complex activities within a Division or Global Business Unit .
  • Identify and evaluate external cutting - edge emerging science of strategic fit for WRD in the discovery to clinical Candidate & Technology space to source partnerships (incl. research collaborations, licensing, acquisitions).
  • Assist in the scientific and professional development of the scientific staff and continuously improving the overall development and technical capability and culture of the organization.
  • Draw on breakthrough sciences, technologies a nd products globally in both the biotech and academic space to strengthen Pfizer's R&D pipeline through strategic integration of the most promising opportunities within Pfizer's disease areas.
  • Provide a competitive advantage to Pfizer by building strong relationships with academic centers, biotech/ pharma companies, government funding agencies and by creating academic and industrial collaborations that impact Pfizer R&D portfolio for the global markets.
  • Provide strategic and scientific expertise within the department and technical project representation for the group portfolio.
  • Network & source for business unit related science across the assigned geography in order to provide innovative cutting - edge science, including novel biology, targets, Lead Discover, or breakthrough and enabling technologies & platforms from academia, biotech and other life science community sources.
  • Network with CTI partnered and other leading academic institutions/PIs in key scientific hubs to source new projects and target ideas.
  • Leverage Pfizer internal capability to establish WRD as partner-of-choice and secure partnerships (e . g . through in - kind contributions, equity investments, combination/leveraging Pfizer internal assets, etc.) .
  • E nsure an effective Talent Management process for talent identification, talent development and coaching, performance management and succession planning.
  • As a member of the BTxPS leadership team you will collaborate and contribute strategic direction to the overall mission of our organization


Qualifications

Must-Have
  • Master's degree (MA/MS/MBA) and 10+ years of experience.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate well across multiple business/group lines.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the pharmaceutical Research & Development and product life cycle process in the area of rare disease and gene therapies.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze and communicate relevant business, valuation and portfolio related information / data to support decision-making processes.
  • Experience with Gene Therapy Drug development


Nice-to-Have
  • Doctoral Degree (JD/PhD/PharmD) and 10+ years of experience.
  • Strong Emotional Quotient (EQ) for internal and external networking and communication, including presentations to leadership, potential external partners and at scientific & partnering conferences.


Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
