Job Details

The primary purpose of the Senior Research Scientist position is to apply technical expertise and experience to plan, coordinate, design, supervise and carry out research projects.

Key Functions
  • Self-motivated and driven to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. The candidate will work in close collaboration with the rest of the scientific team in a highly cross-functional and project-oriented environment.
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and execute scientific research projects.
  • Participates in various scientific research projects to transform the approaches to improving cancer patient outcomes through integrating multi-platform omics data with clinical information, integration of genomic architectures, transcriptomic profiles, and mechanisms of carcinogenesis and metastasis, biomarkers prediction for disease diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy response, etc.
  • Collect, analyzes, integrates and interprets omics data, such as single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics and proteomics datasets using established algorithms, tools and softwares.
  • Troubleshoot existing data pipeline processes, implements new softwares and tools, improves analytical approaches, and establishes computational frameworks to comprehensively characterize tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment.
  • Assists the principal investigator with scientific business on a daily basis to include: write and edit manuscripts; compile, write, and submit reports to the principal as directed and assigned, prepare and present data for publication or scientific meetings; maintain current and accurate records of research data; and, obtain and distribute pertinent research materials/data.
  • Works closely with and instruct students and postdoctoral fellows with bioinformatics tools and algorithms commonly used to perform computational analysis. Interacts closely with other research staff across institutional functional teams and contributes to project team.

Ideal candidate will have experience in cancer-related research
  • Must be highly motivated, reliable, responsible, well organized and a careful record keeper with good attention to details.
  • Experience working with single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and immunogenomics data is highly preferred.
  • PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science or a related field.
  • A strong computational background, proficiency in R and at least one additional scripting language (e.g. Python) and knowledge in biostatistics.
  • Experience working with high-performance computing environment.
  • A good understanding of cancer biology, immunology, and cell biology is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of publications is required.
  • Excellent manuscript writing and presentation skills are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required as well as the ability to work well in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment.

EDUCATION:
Required: Ph.D. in one of the natural sciences or related field or Medical degree.

Preferred: PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Three years of experience in experimental or scientific work.

Preferred: Experience working with single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and immunogenomics data
