This Research Associate will support the CNS Research team with a breadth of laboratory-based functions with primary responsibility to assist the CNS research team in developing and running in-vitro and ex-vivo assays for early discovery and pre-clinical programs including working with DNA/RNA/Protein isolation, qPCR, cell culture, biochemical assays, microscopy, data analysis and routine lab work.

Responsibilities.

• Prepare and conducts experiments on the bench in support of the CNS research projects, including new assay development (e.g., molecular, cell-based, enzymatic, immunoassays) and troubleshooting. Optimizing existing assays based on in-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques.

•Oversee and/or provide technical support of specialized equipment as needed. Manage CNS research samples and materials.

Education and Experience Requirements

•BA/BS in biological sciences required. Masters in a relevant field preferred; with 3-5 years of relevant academic/industry experience.

•Well versed in basic molecular biology skills (DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR), cell biology (in vitro culture of mammalian cells, transfection, microscopy) and biochemistry (SDS-PAGE, enzymatic assays, Western blotting etc.).

•Proven ability to work in a hands-on laboratory setting, self-motivated to learn, ability to multi-task, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.

•Prior experience in the neuroscience field is preferred. Understanding of studies in murine models of neurological disease and neurobehavioral assays is plus but not essential.

Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

•Experience in culturing CNS cells and AAV or gene therapy preferred but not essential.

•Adept at conducting routine testing and limited troubleshooting of multiple methods.

• Ability to learn new techniques and work independently after training.

•Independently motivated, detail oriented and good problem-solving ability.

•Strong data recording, organizational and communication skills.

•Ability to quickly run, analyze and troubleshoot experiments.

•Familiar with computer software commonly used in bio/pharma industries (e.g. Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism etc.).
