UT Health San Antonio - Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine
The Sam and Ann Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies, a member of the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio, is seeking to hire an outstanding faculty candidate at the rank of Full Professor, with a prominent record of research in aging biology and/or geroscience, broadly defined. Candidates must have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree, and should have an ongoing federally funded extramural research program, along with a significant publication record. The successful candidate will be expected to secure and maintain a vigorous extramurally funded research program at the Barshop Institute as well as participate in graduate student training and didactic education in the Biology of Aging Program.
The Barshop Institute is home to several aging/geroscience-related, NIH funded programs (https://barshopinstitute.uthscsa.edu/centers/) including a Nathan Shock Center, Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center, and sites for the Interventions Testing Program, and Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity Consortium (MoTrPAC). The Barshop Institute also sponsors a T32 Program on Aging Biology/Geroscience for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. We are also linked with the San Antonio Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC) of the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. Some medical school/graduate school teaching will be expected, and the area to be determined will be based on the candidate's research background. We offer highly competitive salaries and start-up packages and provide an excellent environment for aging research. UTHSA is committed to a culturally and gender diverse faculty and has been designated a Hispanic Serving Institution.
Interested candidates should visit https://uthscsa.referrals.selectminds.com/faculty to apply online, and enter job requisition number on the Keyword box.
