Computational Biology Postdoctoral Fellow Position

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) conducts and supports a global program of research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. The Laboratory of Immune System Biology within the NIAID Division of Intramural Research (DIR) located on the Bethesda (Maryland) NIH Campus is seeking candidates for a computational biology postdoctoral fellow position within the Computational Systems Biology Section. This fully funded position will allow the successful candidate to work in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary environment as part of a team of experimentalists and computational modelers.

The focus of the postdoctoral project will be on developing computational modeling approaches for cellular signaling pathways and multi-cellular communication using high performance computing techniques.

For those interested, the position will offer the opportunity to acquire a well-rounded interdisciplinary skill set by combining experimental work with training in computational modeling.

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in programming (C/C++ or Java, Python, etc.), ideally in a scientific setting
  • Ability and desire to work in a collaborative environment
  • Interest in quantitative biology approaches
  • Good communication skills

Preferred

  • Prior knowledge of cell biology
  • Prior experience with high performance computing

To Apply

Interested candidates should send their curriculum vitae (CV), bibliography, the names of three references who may be contacted for letters, and a short statement about their skill set to Dr. Martin Meier-Schellersheim at mschellersheim@nih.gov.
