OPEN POSTDOCTORAL POSITION

Open postdoctoral research position to examine retrovirus pathogenesis using in vivo and in vitro models. In our group we are trying to delineate the role of various cellular host genes and how they impact retrovirus pathogenesis by integrating both tissue culture techniques and animal models. We are also interested in examining the function and role of the HIV accessory proteins (Vpu, Vpr, Vif, Vpx and Nef) and host genes on retrovirus pathogenesis in vivo. We are currently funded to examine the role of host restriction factors on retrovirus infection utilizing molecular biology, cell biology and next-gen sequencing techniques. Our lab is a member of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Jacobs School of Medicine of SUNY, University at Buffalo, and is located at the Downtown campus in the heart of the city of Buffalo, NY. Research Foundation of SUNY is an AA/EOE

Successful candidate will perform/design and analyze in vivo and in vitro experiments using retroviruses. He/She will mentor others in the lab and work in a collaborative manner. The candidate should be able to present their data clearly in various platforms.

Applicants with virology and especially retrovirology backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Experience handling mice and performing in vivo experiments is highly desirable.

Minimum requirements are a Ph.D. in a relevant field and knowledge in molecular, cellular biology techniques and next gen sequencing analysis.

Competitive salary and excellent fringe benefits (including medical, dental, retirement etc) are provided to the successful candidate.

Interested applicants should apply via UB Jobs at https://www.ubjobs.buffalo.edu/postings/31020

CV, cover letter summarizing scientific interests and experience and contact information for three references (one of which should be the thesis advisor) are required.
