Site Name: Richmond Sherwood Posted Date: Oct 14 2021 The purpose of this role is to provide materials science services to the GMS sites on business prioritized projects. The role covers a diverse range of services including technical leadership, expert consultation, provision of measurement or process data, including its interpretation and reporting to the customer, and providing expert training to the GMS sites. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following: Provides materials science support to GMS sites and central teams, for business critical projects related to security of supply, new business, major programs etc. Provides measurement data, including its interpretation and reporting, on APIs, excipients, drug product intermediates, finished products and primary-secondary manufacturing processes Provides leadership and/or expert input and measurement data into the Material Risk Assessment (MRA) process for material changes Provides materials science support to transfers of primary and secondary manufacturing process into/out of GMS sites Leverage and sharing of external materials science knowledge across GMS May make recommendations to customers regarding operation, selection or design of processing equipment May be required to develop and transfer measurement methods. May be required to assists the Materials Science Lead in maintaining the skills and competencies required in a specific area of materials science across GMS sites, including definition, maintenance and revision of the competency framework May be responsible for the procurement, qualification, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Materials Science 5 + years experience and expertise in one or more areas of materials science e.g. powder/particle technology, colloid science, polymer science etc. 5 + years technical experience / knowledge across key areas of materials science (e.g. pharmaceutical materials and their functionality); transformation of material properties across primary and secondary processes; and material characterization Experienced in laboratory skills with the ability to design, run, and interpret laboratory work programs Experienced with, and proficiency in, report writing skills Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Demonstrated ability in complex and structured problem-solving Demonstrated ability to think critically and innovatively combined with willingness to challenge Why GSK?
