The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) at Colorado State University seeks to fill several tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The department plans to make multiple hires over the next few years. The successful candidate is expected to establish a vigorous, independent, extramurally funded research program to complement and enhance core research missions in the department and the University. Preference will be given for research focus in neuroscience and/or physiology. Current departmental expertise exists in cellular and molecular signaling, neural organization and plasticity, as well as hormonal and neural regulation of physiological functions within a broad range of whole animal, organ, cellular, and genetic models of the cardiovascular, endocrine, reproductive, and nervous systems. There is a strong institutional commitment to graduate programs and interdisciplinary approaches that promote collaboration both within and across departmental lines. Emerging areas of interest across campus include translational genomics and aging (http://www.healthyaging.colostate.edu/) with additional support from research core (https://www.research.colostate.edu/cores/) and omics/bioanalysis (https://www.research.colostate.edu/bio/) facilities.
The individual selected for this position will be expected to participate in research, teaching, and service. Teaching responsibilities will be within the undergraduate and/or graduate programs in the general area of systems/integrative physiology and/or neuroscience. Departmental faculty members also participate in DVM/PhD and postdoctoral training. A new facility that houses a virtual reality learning center and state of the art teaching labs for human gross anatomy and neuroanatomy has recently been completed and a recent partnership with the University of Colorado School of Medicine has introduced medical school education as part of the BMS teaching mission.
