This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following… To provide expertise in the areas of molecular biology, protein expression, purification, and characterization to guide the design and selection of new target antigens for vaccine development. Provide protein biochemistry expertise to GSK vaccine projects Possesses strong scientific leadership to enable collaboration with key scientific internal and external stakeholders. High-quality written documentation/presentation of work to enable publications of data in peer reviewed journals, patent filings, etc. Supervise students and junior lab personnel as needed Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, biotechnology or other related discipline PhD with 2+ years, MS with 5+ years, or BS degree with 10+ years of experience in research and development Experience with the design of protein expression vectors and molecular biology Experience with diverse protein expression platforms (e.g. mammalian and bacterial expression systems) Experience with protein purification methods (e.g. affinity column purification and size exclusion chromatography) and equipment (e.g. AKTA avant system) Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: PhD degree with 3+ years postdoc training or working experience Demonstrate willingness to spend ~70% of time in the research laboratory Demonstrated ability to conceive and perform independent innovative research Be a self-starter able to handle multiple projects concurrently Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively collaborate within multiple project workstreams Fluency in English, spoken and written Experience in vaccine research in an industrial, academic, or government laboratory settings Hands-on experience in lab automation (e.g. Andrew, Tecan, Hamilton) Experience in high-throughput candidate screening, generation of combinatorial libraries, saturating mutagenesis, and/or directed evolution Hands-on experience in bioanalytical and biophysics essay (e.g. ELISA, Western blot, SPR, DSF, DLS) Hands-on experience in the purification and characterization of RNA Knowledgeable in the field of vaccine development and antigen design Ability to efficiently manage uncertainty, changes in priorities and timelines Good knowledge and understanding of GSK Vaccines strategy and objectives, regulatory requirements, as well as competition intelligence and intellectual property aspects. Ability to integrate this knowledge in decisions and recommendations Strong track-record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, with at least 3 first author research manuscripts Why GSK?
