The primary purpose of the Scientific Project Director position is to plan, direct, and oversee the MOSAIC Initiative as well as to manage other programmatic initiatives.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

MOSAIC Initiative • Collaborates with leadership from MOSAIC initiative, other institutional, divisional and departmental programs to develop and maintains strategic business plans and to include schedules, project estimates, resource plans, status reports, and research protocols.
• Oversees and manages Statement of Work, scope/priority definitions, budget creation and schedules for large complex programs.
• Coordinates MOSAIC Initiative in relation to Disease type, department, divisional and institutional platforms, programs or other areas: requires ability to coordinate and manage (i) complex programs, (ii) multiple investigators and (iii) interactions between intiative site teams and other teams such as Moon Shot Platforms teams.
• Manages Project performance to avoid scope-creep
• Supports the MOSAIC leaders with identification, preparation, coordination, and submission/tracking of grants and manuscripts, prepares status reports and monitoring of all activities
• Facilitate interactions with Principal Investigators, faculty, staff, and study sponsors across departments, divisions, and institutional boundaries related to the MOSAIC initiative.
• Works closely with APOLLO Moon Shot Director, other Moon Shot Platforms, and other programmatic initiatives leaders at the department, divisional and institutional level.
• Works with MOSAIC Operations leader to facilitate the needs of the MOSAIC Initiative and relationships to Platform capabilities.

MOSAIC Operations Management
• Independently manages and oversees the development of any required databases for integration with institutional pipelines
• Monitors, evaluates and reports on actual to budget performance.
• Prepares monthly, quarterly progress reports and provides updates as necessary.
• Provide weekly status update outlining high-level accomplishments, barriers, and issues.
• Develops workflows, integrates with existing biomarker analyses pipelines, works with other programmatic leaders to ensure progress
• Identifies key issues, approaches, performance metrics, gap analysis, and resource needs
• Provides leadership and support for departmental, divisional and institutional programs or initiatives
• Oversees financial management and budget related to APOLLO Moon Shot and the involved Platforms.
• Ensures effective utilization of personnel and space.
• Assures that institutional policies and procedures are followed.
• Independently analyzes issues, identifies, and implements solutions along with monitoring results.

Translational Research Project Management
• Serves as primary administrative resource for the Chair and Associate Director of Research Planning and Development Plans to coordinate, design and carry out existing or new translational research projects at the departmental, divisional or institutional level
• Identifies opportunities for expansion of programmatic activities by connecting with resources at the divisional (DPLM), institutional and extramural levels.
• Designs, coordinates, and provides support for assigned clinical and translational initiatives, grants, projects or programs with external or internal collaborators and projects related to multicenter research that impact translational research efforts throughout the institution.
• Writes and prepares monthly, quarterly, or annual reports, grant applications, protocols, SOWs with focus on scientific content
• Compiles data from multiple resources or existing pipelines for biomarker/translational research projects
• Monitors all financial aspects of new translational projects
• Maintains records of all activities, establishes timelines and provides progress reports for all projects
• Works closely with other programmatic effort leads to collaborate on projects

Education
Required
: Master's degree.

Experience
Required
: Six years experience in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical/academic research or clinical research setting to include three years research program/project management experience. With preferred degree, four years of experience in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical/academic research or clinical research setting to include one year of research program/project management experience.
