Post-Doc Position (m/f/d)

The full time position starts as soon as possible and is for a period of three years (project “Gut- Microbiota-Brain Cross-talk on Energy and Metabolic Control”) with the possibility for extension.

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at University of Bonn and University Hospital Bonn, Germany, advertises a post-doctoral researcher position in Physiology and Molecular Metabolism with Tenure Track. The research position will strengthen the interface between basic and translational research on the interplay between environmental signals, the microbiome, the mammalian host, and the immune system related to obesity and chronic inflammatory metabolic diseases.

Our Department focuses on health aspects of modern human lifestyle and their integration into human metabolic diseases, ranging from chronic inflammatory disease to autoimmunity, obesity and related cardiovascular and metabolic diseases to cancer.

Key topics of our lab include intestinal dysbiosis, environmental aspects of appetite regulation, molecular mechanisms of adipose tissue (dys-)function, gut-brain- adipose tissue- crosstalk, immunometabolism, target identification and validation of novel therapies for obesity, diabetes and related metabolic diseases.

The position will strengthen the integration within the planned SFB/Transregio BATenergy as well as the collaboration with the Cluster of Excellence ImmunoSensation, the Competence Cluster Diet-Body-Brain and the LIMES Institute.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, team-oriented postgraduate with a strong interest and hands-on expertise in physiology and molecular metabolism. Experience with metabolic analyses (e.g. Seahorse, metabolic cages), animal experimentation, multi-omics approaches, microbiome analysis, RNA-Seq, immunohistochemistry, biochemistry and/or molecular biology is advantageous.

The candidate will be expected to present data in both domestic and international conferences and to significantly contribute to the writing of research papers.

Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant subject (e.g. microbiology, physiology, immunology, neurobiology, cellbiology, biochemistry or molecular biology).
