What You Will Achieve

As a Senior Scientist, you will be at the center of Early Antibody Discovery (EAD) and you'll find that everything we do is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. You will lead the development and validation of biochemical assay and of cell-based functional assay in support of Pfizer's BioMedicine (BMD) programs. You will be responsible for designing and executing experiments based on homogenous technology including HTRF/LANCE/DELFIA/Alpha Screen. Develop cell-based functional assays for high-throughput screening (HT) and convert existing biochemical and cell-based assays into HT format. You will be analyzing data, writing reports and presenting results at internal meetings.

The responsibilities also include ensuring that all the work that you do is in compliance with relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Lab practices (GLP) guidelines. You will be recognized as a technical expert and a scientific contributor. With your deep assay development expertise, you will be an active team member whose findings impact the project. You will be using your scientific judgment to adapt standard methods and techniques by applying prior work experience. Your creativity in developing novel assay will be used frequently. It is your innovative scientific temperament that will help in making Pfizer ready to achieve new breakthroughs for patients across the globe .

How You Will Achieve It
  • Regularly contribute at the project team level to make it successful.
  • Utilize expertise in cell biology to develop robust cell-based assays for understanding cellular activity and the role of target of interest as well as for identifying and characterizing therapeutic hits. Proactively gather input from literature to drive projects forward.
  • Develop assays utilizing appropriate high-throughput detection technologies including FRET, luminescence (enzyme complementation), fluorescence, and flow cytometry.
  • Apply fit-for-purpose assay development and effectively balance assay rigor against project goals.
  • Participate in all phases of EAD operations including validation of assay reagents, data analysis, interpretation, reporting and follow up discussions with the project teams on utilizing the data in appropriate decision making.
  • Effectively interact with the Research Unit team and support projects advancement.
  • Develop partnerships and collaborations in a matrix environment, influencing project strategies and platform development.
  • Author and review laboratory methods and reports.
  • Keep abreast of scientific/ technological development by participating in scientific meetings/ seminars.


Qualifications

Must-Have
  • Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of experience, Master's Degree with 5+ years of experience or PhD with 0-3 years of experience in molecular biology/immunology/cell biology or a related discipline
  • Industry experience in the field of biopharmaceuticals or immunology • Demonstrated and detailed knowledge and application of sample preparation methods as applied to flow cytometry techniques
  • Good understanding of immunology and cellular biology
  • Demonstrated experience with assay development
  • Proficiency with operation and troubleshooting of automated liquid handling equipment.
  • Ability to excel in a collaborative, fast paced and dynamic environment • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and relevant scientific software.
