The successful candidate will be an inter-disciplinary scholar whose academic interest is broadly in human-environmental health with a focus on social justice. The successful candidate will teach a 3-3 course load, as well as serve as an advisor and mentor to students in both the Public Health Program and the Environmental Studies Department. Relevant areas of expertise include: human health effects of contaminants; children’s environmental health; environmental epidemiology; food-borne or sanitation related illnesses; human health impacts of environmental change; communicable diseases related to human-induced environmental change; global environmental health; One Health, or related subjects.

Qualified candidates should be able to effectively teach the scientific basis of environmental health as well as applicable policy issues. We are particularly interested in candidates who recognize and investigate disparities in environmental health risk and/or consider environmental justice as part of their scholarship and teaching. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of an innovative and growing Public Health major and a well-established Environmental studies major. This person will receive mentorship and support from both programs and will teach introductory courses in public health and environmental studies in addition to developing upper division courses in environmental health related subjects that complement the existing curricula in environmental studies and public health. Ability to teach environmental epidemiology is preferred.  GIS and/or other statistical/quantitative skills are advantageous. The successful candidate will have an on-going program of research and published scholarship that may include undergraduate students and demonstrate a commitment to teaching in the liberal arts. We encourage applications from candidates who bring diverse cultural, ethnic, and national perspectives to their scholarship and teaching.
