The laboratory of Dr. Upasna Sharma at the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) is seeking postdoctoral research scientists (up to two fully-funded postdoctoral positions are available). The overall goal of the lab is to elucidate the role of small RNAs in epigenetic inheritance. We use a unique and powerful combination of genomics, assisted reproduction, and mouse genetics to understand the biogenesis and functions of small RNAs enriched in mammalian sperm. Being at the home of UCSC Genome Browser and the UCSC RNA Center, the laboratory has access to cutting-edge, high-throughput sequencing technology and expertise in genomics and RNA biology. Candidates with prior experience in mouse genetics, RNA biology, epigenetics, and/or developmental biology are strongly encouraged to apply. An experience in bioinformatic analysis of high-throughput data is desired but not required. Other qualifications include a Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant field and a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications (or currently under review/BioRxiv). The candidates should be self-motivated, with excellent written and oral communication skills. The Postdoctoral scientist’s duties will include designing and performing experiments, data analysis and interpretation, as well as writing of manuscripts.
