What You Will Achieve

As a Scientist in the exploratory assay team within the Bacterial Vaccines and Technology (BVT) group, you will be at the center of our operations. You'll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. Our team plays a key role in the early development of vaccines, focusing on developing cell-based assays that measure functional immune responses to candidate antigens. You will be an active team member who will use your creativity and experience to work to deliver results in collaboration with the project team. Your cell-biology background and prior experience will allow you to adapt existing assay approaches while applying new ideas and techniques to develop mechanistically relevant immunogenicity assays.

  • Apply technical skills and functional knowledge to projects/ assignments within own work group/ project team independently and proactively
  • Comply with all safety training and good laboratory practices

Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S./M.S. degree in cell biology, microbiology, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of cell biology related research experience post-graduation
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with microplate assay development
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and summarize experimental data
  • Background in working with microbial pathogens is mandatory
  • Proficiency in basic cell biology techniques including microscopy and flow cytometry
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture techniques
  • Ability to troubleshoot assay development challenges
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong motivation and a dedicated work ethic
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and relevant scientific software, including graphing/statistical analysis tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with fluorescence microscopy
  • Experience with liquid handling lab automation
  • Experience with bacterial or viral neutralization assays
