Postdoctoral Position in Developmental Hematopoiesis and Gene Regulation

An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available immediately for highly motivated recent PhDs and/or MDs with strong training in biochemistry, bioinformatics, immunology, molecular and cell biology, to participate in studies on the function of circadian cycling of gene expression and immune-related (inflammation) genes induced by steroid hormones in hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells at steady-state and under conditions of stress. We are interested in studying these pathways and their target genes in mouse and human models. These studies may lead to the identification of novel molecular targets in erythroid progenitors that can be exploited to develop new therapies for anemias and other red cell disorders. Strong publication record and training to perform independent research are required for further consideration. For examples of our work, see Blood Advances 2(11): 1207-1219, 2018; Mol. Cell. Biol. 35: 3726-3738, 2015; Blood 117: 4924-4934, 2011; Blood 116: 3972-3980, 2010; Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 105: 6662-6667, 2008; Blood 109: 343-352, 2007; Development 128: 1717-1730, 2001.

Successful Candidates will be part of a stimulating and collaborative scientific environment with cutting-edge instrumentation and facilities. Proficiency in molecular and cell biology (including subcloning of DNA, PCR, isolation of RNA), basic protein methods (e.g. immunoblotting), flow cytometry, and mammalian cell culture required.  Expertise in hematopoiesis and/or gene regulation and/or computational biology (e.g. RNAseq, scRNAseq, ATACseq) desirable. Excellent communication skills in written and oral English are essential.

Salary based on experience.

Applicants should send CV, including bibliography, brief cover letter detailing past research accomplishments and future research goals, and names and addresses of three faculty references to:  margaret.baron@mssm.edu
