Director of the Pediatric Genomics Program, University of Chicago

The University of Chicago: Biological Sciences Division: Department of Pediatrics

Position Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics seeks a tenured or tenure-track faculty member who is pursuing research on pediatric genomics. The appointee will have interests that align with other scientific programs within the Biological Sciences Division including genetics, neurosciences, cancer, host defense, and/or developmental biology, and related areas. We seek a scientist who will lead a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary group investigating pediatric disease and/or its treatment. Rank will be commensurate with accomplishments, with a primary faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, and options for secondary appointments throughout the Biological Sciences Division. Mid-career and senior-level investigators with leadership skills and experience leading team efforts or building programs are especially encouraged to apply.  Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The University is a vibrant center of scientific discovery and innovation, and opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration are abundant, both within and outside the Biological Sciences Division. The Division, other academic units of the University, and the University of Chicago Medical Center are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago’s Hyde Park.  Appointees will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities and to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within and outside the biological sciences. Competitive research space and start-up funding are available, as will the potential for interactions with our affiliates, the Argonne National Laboratory and the Marine Biological Laboratory.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent. To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago’s Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: apply.interfolio.com/97132.   Applicants must upload a CV including bibliography, and a research statement.  Review of complete applications will begin 18 November 2021 and continue until the position is filled.
