The Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI Singapore) has been established as one of the five Research Centers of Excellence in Singapore in 2018, to be a major centre for cancer studies in Asia with a global presence. Hosted under the National University of Singapore (NUS), a globally leading research university, CSI is able to tap into the multidisciplinary strengths of NUS and provide opportunities to work with world-leading faculty in many fields of cancer research.

CSI has developed the Graduate Program in Cancer Biology under NUS School of Medicine with the mission to educate and train the next generation of scientists in a translational and multidisciplinary environment. Our graduate program aims to produce high-calibre researchers skilled in independent research investigation and contributing original ideas that advance their specific fields of cancer research. With over 20 laboratories working on cutting-edge cancer research, including experimental and bioinformatics laboratories and a range of core facilities, students will have access to these world-class facilities, with the latest state of the art equipment, dedicated to cancer research and opportunity to work with a dynamic team of renowned specialized scientists. We encourage outstanding science/medical graduates to enrol in the CSI Graduate Program to further their academic careers or scientific endeavours.

Upon successful admission to the CSI Singapore Graduate Program, students will be awarded the CSI Singapore PhD Graduate Scholarship which is tenable for up to four years of the students’ candidature. CSI Scholars will enjoy a full tuition fee subsidy, monthly stipend of up to S$3,600 and allowance for laptop, books/software, and conference/workshops.

The following admission requirements apply:

  • A Bachelor’s Honours Degree (Highest Distinction/ Distinction), or MBBS, or MD Degree holder
  • Meet minimum GRE scores (applicable for applicants who are not graduates of NUS/NTU/SMU/SUTD)
  • Meet minimum TOEFL/IELTS scores (applicable when applicant’s medium of university instruction is not English)
