The Laboratory Operations Technician will support experimental laboratory operations across Drug Product Design (DPD) in conjunction with project scientists and the laboratory coordinator.

Areas of focus include the lab preparation activities for routine observational/analytical testing of drug substances or drug products with standard data documentation/data input. Additionally this position will support laboratory and chemical supply, hands-on equipment/instrument maintenance, compound/formulation logistics and delivery, and equipment setup and breakdown.

The candidate will learn team effectiveness and communication skills, seek input from others and work as a DPD team member. They will be expected to complete routine tasks consisting of a series of prescribed steps within agreed timeframe, using operational and technical work practices and guidelines. The candidate will learn and be accountable for adhering to Pfizer standards, guidelines and values.


  • Stocking of laboratories with essential equipment, glassware, laboratory disposables, chemicals, and safety/cleaning supplies

  • Equipment set-up, cleaning, breakdown, and maintenance

  • Follow detailed instructions to support the preparation and delivery of a variety of DPD experiments conducted on site in Groton CT laboratories.

  • Provide data, summary of findings and observations for capture in reports and electronic notebooks

  • Conduct routine laboratory analytical experiments according to detailed instruction with supervision

  • Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, highly detailed environment, supporting multiple projects simultaneously

  • Support logistics of compounds and formulation supply, management, and delivery

  • Manages own time and be accountable for own results


  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a laboratory environment

  • Ability to communicate data and observations clearly and concisely

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

  • Good communication (oral and written) skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office required e.g. MS Word, MS Excel


  • Associates degree or scientific bachelors degree

  • 2+ years' experience in a laboratory environment

  • Prior demonstrated pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and instrumentation experience is preferred

  • Mechanical aptitude


    Candidates must have the ability to perform laboratory work which may include bending, lifting, sitting & standing for extended periods of time
