Job title: Post Doc Research Fellow-Retinal Differentiation, Inherited Degenerations, and Regeneration, Dr. Liu Laboratory

A position of postdoctoral research fellow is immediately available at the Departments of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and Genetics in Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA.

Our research projects aim to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of retinal differentiation and inherited retinal degenerations in an effort to find a strategy for retinal regeneration. Our experimental approaches include engineered mice, human pluripotent stem cells, retinal organoids, bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, and mapping chromatin landscapes of transcription factors.

Additional information on our research projects can be found in our recent publications, including PNAS (2019) 116(22):10824-10833, DOI: 10.1073/pnas.1901572116, Cell Reports (2018) 25: 2510-2523, DOI: 10.1016/j.celrep.2018.10.106, Stem Cell Reports (2016) 6:743-56, DOI: 10.1016/j.stemcr.2016.03.011, as well as in our websites (https://einsteinmed.org/faculty/12331/wei-liu/). We were recently awarded NEI prizes for the first and second phases of the NEI 3-D Retina Organoid Challenge. The postdoc fellow will receive multidisciplinary training in an exciting academic environment in New York City.

The candidate for this position is expected to be a highly self-motivated, recent Ph.D. graduate with strong background in mouse genetics, vertebrate development, stem cell biology, or RNA sequencing.

Research experience in eye development and inherited retinal degenerations is a plus. To apply for this position, please send your CV, contact information of three referees, and a statement of research interest to Dr. Wei Liu, wei.liu@einsteinmed.org.

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, protected veteran or disabled status, or genetic information.
