The Department of Anthropology, Washington University in St. Louis, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Paleoanthropology (Biological Anthropology) at the level of Assistant Professor to begin in the Fall semester of 2022.  We seek an exceptional researcher to join a department with a record of excellence in biological anthropology, and who will participate in a Digital Transformation cluster within the University (https://insideartsci.wustl.edu/digital-transformation-hiring-initiative).  The successful candidate will explain how their research program uses digital data, digital methods, and/or large databases to push the boundaries of human origins research.  Candidates must also explain how their research program relates directly or indirectly to important research questions in human biology, primatology, anthropological genetics, other sub-disciplines of anthropology, and/or other fields of study in departments across the university. The successful candidate is expected to work with graduate students in developing research projects and have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching. Duties will include teaching courses, conducting research, writing for publication, advising students, participating in department governance, and university service.

Applications should consist of a curriculum vitae, a cover letter describing ongoing research and teaching interests, and the names and contact information of three referees. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology or a cognate discipline, and the degree must be in hand by time of appointment. All application materials should be submitted via Interfolio (https://apply.interfolio.com/96876). Applications received before November 15, 2021 will receive full consideration. Consideration after that date will be at the discretion of the Recruiting Committee.
