Applications are invited for individuals interested in the dean for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy.  The dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School of Pharmacy; leading faculty and staff of the school in planning, securing resources, implementing and evaluating activities related to academic operations, research, service, and patient care programs. The dean represents the school both internally to our University and externally to the various stakeholders.  The dean also serves as part of the University’s administrative team through participation in the Provost’s Academic Council and as a member of the President’s Cabinet. To accomplish these duties, the dean appoints and oversees administrative and supervisory personnel within the school, ensuring the highest quality of our academic mission.

The successful candidate will provide academic, intellectual, and administrative leadership and promote quality in all facets of teaching, research, practice, and service. S/he will lead the ongoing development of the school’s vision and goals, integrate the school plans into the TTUHSC strategic plan, and effectively communicate the vision and goals to constituencies within, and external to, TTUHSC. The Dean shall serve on the TTUHSC academics council and represent the Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy at TTUHSC administrative meetings.

The School of Pharmacy is a dynamic, innovative, nationally recognized program that accomplishes its academic mission across four campuses in Amarillo, Abilene, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Lubbock, Texas.  Boasting one of the largest groups of clinical faculty in the nation, division members located on each of our four campuses are recognized at the local, state, and national level. Required qualifications include academic credentials meriting appointment as a full professor in a School of Pharmacy, a minimum of 7 years of successful experience as a dean or chair in a higher education institution, and an earned professional doctoral degree in pharmacy or its primary specialties, including pharmaceutics, pharmacology, or medicinal chemistry.
