The Biology Department at Washington & Jefferson (W&J) College invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position in computational biology starting in Fall 2022. We are seeking a computational biologist with significant experience with one or more programming languages (e.g. Perl, Python, Java) and statistical environments (e.g. R or Matlab). The candidate should understand life sciences in the era of “big data” and have an interest in helping undergraduate students understand and use computational methods in their courses. The candidate is expected to teach courses such as bioinformatics, genomics, and biological modeling, teach foundational biology courses, as well as other courses based on their area of expertise. In addition to teaching, the candidate may also work with students on independent research projects. The candidate may also participate in interdisciplinary programs including those that involve aspects of computational science. Biologists from diverse disciplines including ecology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genomics, neuroscience, and systems biology are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must provide evidence of an interest in teaching and working with undergraduate students.

The deadline for application materials is December 03, 2021.

To apply, send a curriculum vitae, graduate and undergraduate transcripts, statements of teaching philosophy and research interests, and three letters of recommendation to https://www.washjeff.edu/applicantpro/.
