The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8. The salary range will be Grade 8 £45,610 - £53,757 per annum or Grade 9 £58,404 - £63,483 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

In our single biggest development since we were founded, UCL is expanding to east London. Located on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, UCL East will be dedicated to disruptive thinking and discovery across disciplines and beyond academic walls, to find solutions to the biggest challenges for future living. We are located in Newham, east London - one of the most socially diverse parts of the UK – and we want our staff recruitment to reflect this. 

The postholder will be expected to undertake a leading role in the running and further development of future manufacturing  technologies, innovation and enterprise at the MFL and carry out world-class research to complement or expand the cross-cutting multidisciplinary activities of the MFL, UCL East and UCL; to raise funds in order to support their research programme, postdoctoral research staff and PhD students and to publish world-leading research; to lead the Engineering with Innovation and Enterprise  Master’s teaching programme at the MFL and perform the normal administrative duties expected of a member of academic staff. 

The postholder will develop a programme of original research and produce publications, or other research outputs, in the broad area of future manufacturing technologies. They will lead and facilitate multidisciplinary research and teaching activities between Mechanical Engineering and the MFL at UCL East. They will teach, at both undergraduate and graduate level as required including, laboratory and lecture courses and tutorials.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in the Engineering, Materials Science or Natural sciences as well as an appropriate background and research expertise to make significant contributions at the forefront of international research in the field of future manufacturing. They will have evidence of them participating/leading on research grants and proven skills to conduct experimental and/or computational/theoretical work in any area of future manufacturing  at an international level and in designing and delivering excellent, and inclusive undergraduate or postgraduate education.
