ROLE SUMMARY
Pfizer Oncology Research & Development (ORD) in La Jolla, California, is seeking an individual who would be passionate about using their expertise in cancer biology to make impactful contributions to developing the next generation of innovative cancer medicines. Creativity, perseverance and attention to detail are critical qualities required for this position. We are looking for candidates with deep expertise in 3D tumor cell culture techniques (especially multicellular tumor spheroids) and/or single cell-based analysis methods. Candidates must have successfully applied aforementioned techniques to studies of tumor development and progression, as evidenced by at least two first author publications in peer-reviewed journals.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively participate in the development and progression of our next generation of small-molecule therapeutic programs
- Work in a highly dynamic and multi-disciplinary drug discovery environment that fosters innovation
- Develop and apply novel 3D and/or single cell-based cell culture and analysis techniques to drug development and questions of tumor cell biology (including cell cycle, senescence, cell death)
- Develop hypotheses, apply excellent technical ability at the bench and execute analysis
- Effectively communicate findings at various cross-functional team meetings
- Publish impactful papers and patents
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in Cellular or Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field
- At least two first author publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals across past research activities
- Deep expertise in either one of the two technical fields outlined above, as evidenced by at least one first-author publication in that field
- Past research activities in areas of tumor biology, such as cell cycle, cell death, senescence or transcriptional regulation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-doctoral experience
- CRISPR based techniques for gene knockout or editing, or pooled CRISPR based screening approaches
- Flow cytometry and cell sorting
- Computational biology (e.g. R, Python)
- Filed patent applications
