Postdoctoral Fellowship – Epigenetics of Genome Maintenance

A postdoctoral position is available in Philipp Oberdoerffer’s lab in the Department of Radiation Oncology & Molecular Radiation Sciences (MRS) and Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD.

Our lab investigates how epigenetic context affects genome maintenance pathways, and how this feature may be exploited to modulate cell function and malignant growth. We combine expertise in mouse genetics and molecular biology with imaging and epigenomics approaches to determine how DNA damage alters chromatin, gene expression and genome integrity in cell-based systems and mouse models. We are particularly interested in DNA double-strand break repair pathway choice and its impact on the cellular response to replication stress - a major source of endogenous DNA damage associated with cellular senescence and cancer susceptibility. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly qualified individual to join a diverse team of scientists at MRS. Candidates with expertise in any of the following are of particular interest: iPOND, DNA combing, ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq or translocation sequencing, CRISPR/Cas9-based screening and/or animal work. Experience in bioinformatic analysis of large data sets is a plus. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. or M.D. Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field and have no more than two years of post-doctoral experience. Investigators are supported by a wide array of intellectual, technological, and research resources available through the Cancer Center and School of Medicine.
