Physician Scientists- Radiation Oncology #RON013b

The University of Chicago: Biological Sciences Division: Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology

Position Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology is searching for full-time faculty members at any rank. Appointees should be physician scientists with clinical training in radiation oncology. If appropriate, joint appointments will be available with other academic departments and units including the Ben May Department for Cancer Research, the Committee on Cancer Biology,  and the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Appointees will perform translational and/or basic research as applied to cancer and/or radiation oncology, an integral part of this position.  Some areas of research in the department focus on molecular aspects of radioresistance, DNA repair, biological response modifiers, mechanisms of metastasis, and immune-oncology in combination with radiotherapy. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications. The appointees will be provided a competitive start-up package and protected research time.

The appointees will also perform longitudinal radiation oncology treatment to cancer patients, often in conjunction with an interdisciplinary team. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees.

Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.  Competitive research space and start-up funding will be available, as will the potential for interactions with our affiliates, Argonne National Laboratory and the Marine Biological Laboratory.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be Board certified or eligible.

To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago’s Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/95038. Applicants must upload: CV including bibliography, research statement, and teaching statement. Review of applications ends when the position is filled.
