Site Name: USA - New Jersey - Warren Posted Date: Oct 11 2021 The purpose of the Medical Affairs Senior Scientist - Oral Care role is to support the delivery of medical affairs excellence and provide effective leadership within the regional CDMA organization to deliver business results and ensure effective deployment of Safety/Compliance/Governance standards across GSK's CH business. This position will support the Country Medical Affairs Lead by delivering annual goals and objectives in support of our Oral Care franchise. This role collaborates with various business functions that rely on the Medical Affairs team to drive and implement product strategies and deliverables. These matrix partners include Global R&D Category Leads, Regional Commercial Leads, Regional Commercial Operations Directors and GM's, Safety, Legal, and Corporate Compliance functions. This role is an individual contributor role as part of US Medical Affairs and will have accountability for, and oversight of, the following activities with the complex matrix of multiple Regions and stakeholders, cultures, different LOCs, Category Medical Affairs teams with complex governance and business expectations: Enhancing Global Medical Affairs Community Operating Model to drive results for GSK Consumer Health Implementation of process improvements to enhance organizational efficiency and continuous improvement and supporting delivery of KPIs to measure success / improvement areas Supporting the Medical Affairs Lead and Medical Affairs teammates in delivering the annual goals and objectives, including local innovation and product stewardship activities with a focus on local star brands Support global medical needs for selected Oral Care brands With oversight from the Medical Affairs Lead, drive medical communication and publication strategy across all Categories At a project specific level, drive execution timelines and support budget management Key contributor to the US MA Team Initiation and / or implementation of scientific engagement activities with external medical and scientific community May act as an interface and / or on behalf of GSK with external organizations including Health Authorities, Healthcare Organizations, External Experts etc With oversight from the Medical Affairs Lead, support Medical Affairs activities including but not limited to: input on medical concepts, ethics and consumers safety and well-being; development of accurate, technically supported and business oriented claims; medical input to data collection and analysis of GSK products and competitors; evaluation of- and coordinating medical approval where required of promotional materials These activities will involve building networks , and working closely with colleagues from cross-functional teams within Regions, Areas and LOCs. With oversight from the Medical Affairs Lead, provide medical input to regulatory applications, new product development and clinical activities, and business development and acquisition initiatives Provide internal medical and technical training about GSK products and competitors Act as GSK medical voice in all interactions with consumers, physicians, medical societies, institutions and government bodies. Includes, but not limited to: medically support customer enquiry systems which respond to enquiries and complaints; medical input to answer Consumer Relations questions and complaints as required; working with the medical information department to evaluate consumer contacts to identify trends and product's opportunities/ weaknesses; oversight of Medical Information, including collecting, analyzing and communicating medical information trends to regulatory, medical, sales, marketing and commercial functions, enabling trend identification complying with all relevant regulations and professional standards Supporting appropriate and safe use of all GSK products, including generating benefit/risk assessments Partner with Pharmacovigilance team in order to ensure that GSK activities are conducted in accordance with applicable Regulations and Company policies With oversight from the Medical Affairs Lead responsible for medical activities including but not restricted to: development and medical approval of accurate, technically supported and business oriented claims for local stars and drive profit brands; support to market information / global insights on data collection and analysis of GSK products and competitors Support GSK Medical Governance Framework Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science, Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy or similar 3 + years Medical Affairs industry experience, operating in a commercial environment, preferably in the Pharma, OTC and/or Nutritional space 3 + years of multi-discipline experience including clinical development, operations, project management or similar functions Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Advanced Degree in Pharmaceutical medicine, Dentistry or similar Demonstrated business acumen Demonstrated project management and organizational skills. Proactive, with ability to anticipate and plan, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, make decisions and respond to tight timelines Ability to manage and influence discussions with others Ability and eagerness to challenge status quo; make quick decisions; and lead/operate successfully in an empowered organization Strong communication, influencing and negotiations skills.
