A postdoctoral position is available in the Read laboratory at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in parasitology and RNA biology, specifically studying posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression in Trypanosoma brucei. We are examining how an essential RNA binding protein impacts mRNA polyadenylation, decay, nuclear export, and translation using both genome-wide approaches and molecular dissection of the underlying mechanisms. Additional studies focus on regulation of RNA binding protein function by posttranslational arginine methylation. Enthusiastic and self-motivated candidates should have experience in basic biochemistry and molecular biology techniques and a record of research publication. Experience working with large datasets is a plus.

The University at Buffalo is a major research university, and our lab is located at the Downtown campus in the heart of the city of Buffalo, NY. Competitive salary and excellent fringe benefits (including medical, dental, retirement etc.) are provided to the successful candidate.

Please send cv, a personal statement of scientific interests, and names and contact information of three references to Dr. Laurie K. Read at lread@buffalo.edu.

Research Foundation of SUNY is an AA/EOE.
