TENURE TRACK FACULTY - PEDIATRICS

The University of Chicago: Biological Sciences Division: Department of Pediatrics

Position Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics invites applications at any rank for tenured or tenure-track faculty members whose research in any field, including genetics, genomics, immunology, or neuroscience, has relevance to child health.  Appointees will join a collegial department with a history of important contributions to basic, translational, and clinical research.  Additional responsibilities will include teaching students (undergraduate, graduate, medical) and/or housestaff and fellows, and clinical service commensurate with the individual’s qualifications and interests.  Applications from basic scientists or physician scientists are welcome.  Leadership opportunities are available for highly experienced applicants.

The University is a vibrant center of scientific discovery and innovation, and opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration are abundant, both within and outside the Biological Sciences Division.  The Division, other academic units of the University, and the University of Chicago Medical Center, are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago’s Hyde Park.  Appointees will have access to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within and outside the biological sciences and to state-of-the-art core facilities.  Competitive research space and start-up funding will be available, as will the potential for interactions with our affiliates, the Argonne National Laboratory and the Marine Biological Laboratory.  The primary appointment will be in the Department of Pediatrics although we anticipate that appointees will develop close interactions with other departments, divisions, and institutes at the University of Chicago.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have a doctoral degree (MD or PhD) and must apply through the University of Chicago’s Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/96386.  Applicants must upload a CV including bibliography, contact information for 3 references, a research statement that includes a summary of past research accomplishments and future research plans, and a teaching statement [which may also include the candidate’s experience in teaching diverse students, if applicable (The University’s Diversity Statement can be found at https://provost.uchicago.edu/statements-diversity)].  Review of complete applications will begin November 12, 2021 and continue until the position is filled.

Equal Employment Opportunity Statement
