Full Professor of Polymer Materials for Electrochemical Storage

at pay grade W 3 (minimum salary per month: 7,217 euros) to commence as soon as possible. This is a permanent civil service position.

We are looking for a scholar who has excellent international credentials in the field of polymer chemistry, especially with regard to applied battery research, and who can fully represent the subject of macromolecular chemistry in research and teaching.

In research, he or she will be expected to have an excellent track record in current areas of macromolecular chemistry and polymer materials. Research activities should focus on the synthesis, characterization, and processing of novel macromolecules with application potential in the field of electrochemical energy storage. The willingness and ability to attract third-party funding, including in coordinated programmes, must be evident.

The postholder will be expected to play an active and leading role in the newly founded Bavarian Centre for Battery Technology (BayBatt).

  • Possible research foci of the chair are:
  • Ion-conductive electrolytes
  • Electrically insulating, porous separators
  • Protective and intermediate layers
  • Flexible binder materials to increase the mechanical integrity of electrodes during volume expansion

The successful applicant will be expected to play a central role in the interdisciplinary master’s programmes Battery Materials & Technology and Battery Technology, which are currently under development. In addition to this research-related teaching, undergraduate teaching will also be provided, especially in the bachelor’s programmes Polymer & Colloid Chemistry and Chemistry and the master’s programme Polymer Science at the University of Bayreuth. The ability to teach in English and German is expected. Participation in the doctoral programme Polymer Science is planned.
