Starting Salary
£52,877 - £65,348 per annum
MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK
Division of Protein and Nucleic Acid Chemistry (PNAC)

The MRC LMB invites applications for a Group Leader position (Programme Leader-track) within the PNAC Division. We seek a colleague with an exciting and innovative research vision, and an outstanding track-record, to address fundamental questions relating to cellular and molecular mechanisms of immunity and infection.

The primary selection criteria are scientific excellence and the potential for synergy with existing research programmes (www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/research/protein-and-nucleic-acid-chemistry/). You should hold a PhD and have an excellent publication record with an outstanding potential for independent research.

PNAC Division is committed to creating a diverse workforce and we particularly encourage applications from women and people from BAME backgrounds who are under-represented at this level.

This position provides substantial core funding for your research. Your group will be hosted in our new custom-built institute, which provides exceptional core facilities. Administrative duties are minimal and no teaching is required. Interactions with groups across the four Divisions of the LMB are vibrant and encouraged.

The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology is a research institute within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).  UKRI is an entity that brings together nine partners to create an independent organisation with a strong voice for research and innovation, more information can be found at www.ukri.org.

Working for UKRI MRC provides a whole host of benefits including a defined benefit pension scheme, excellent holiday entitlement (40 ½ days including bank holidays and privilege days) and Benenden Healthcare membership.  You will also have access to employee shopping/ travel discounts, on site sport and social facilities, as well as salary sacrifice cycle to work schemes and childcare vouchers.

Informal enquiries can be made to Andrew McKenzie (anm@mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk).
