The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks to fill a tenure track Assistant Professor faculty position. Applicants must have a PhD and/or MD degree and have demonstrated excellence in research on sensory physiology and pain. Areas of research include, but are not limited to, molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying somatic and visceral sensations, the development of sensory dysfunctions (e.g., pathologic pain), biological processes for somatic and visceral sensory signaling and pain, peripheral and central pathways and circuits involving somatosensory and pain processes, and/or mouse genetics of somatosensory functions and pain.
Applicants should have established research programs, and publications as first or senior author in high impact, peer-reviewed journals. Preference will be given to those who have active NIH grants. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
