Why Patients Need You

Pfizer's purpose is to deliver breakthroughs that change patients' lives. Research and Development is at the heart of fulfilling Pfizer's purpose as we work to translate advanced science and technologies into the therapies and vaccines that matter most. Whether you are in the discovery sciences, ensuring drug safety and efficacy or supporting clinical trials, you will apply cutting edge design and process development capabilities to accelerate and bring the best in class medicines to patients around the world.

What You Will Achieve

Incumbent will be responsible for testing samples for pre-clinical and early stage (Phase I) clinical studies as a member of the Clinical & Diagnostic Assay Development Group (CDAD). The candidate will also be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of multiple flow cytometers. The role is focused on flow cytometry assays but also includes performance of other cell-based assays on clinical samples. The role requires an in-depth technical knowledge of multi-parameter flow cytometry and good understanding of relevant software including FACS Diva and FlowJo. Experience of working in a BSL2 level tissue culture laboratory is required, as well as an understanding of cellular immunology and the key assay platforms of flow cytometry and ELISPOT. The role requires good analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to clearly document and present complex biological data. Incumbent is required to multitask and work as part of a team that is required to meet business-critical deadlines.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Conduct flow cytometry assays in accordance with GCLP requirements.
  • Analyze, document and report experimental data in accordance with Pfizer/GCLP requirements.
  • Applying systems thinking, problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting to generate innovative ideas to improve processes.
  • Support the efficient and compliant operation of the laboratory by developing appropriate processes and standard operating procedures, working with others to operate the laboratory, and by becoming an expert user in key areas of operation (such as LIMS and GDMS).
  • Assist in the sourcing and maintenance of reagents required to conduct clinical flow cytometry assays in a compliant manner.
  • Maintain and build a broad knowledge of key assay platforms (including flow cytometry and ELISPOT assays) and the scientific rationale underpinning the assays through appropriate training and self-learning.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of relevant work experience or Master's degree with at least 1 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in working with human and murine samples.
  • Experience working in a tissue culture laboratory with samples requiring BSL2 containment.
  • Experienced in developing and conducting flow cytometry based assays.
  • In depth experience with flow cytometry (Fortessa and/or Cytek Aurora).
  • Experience of working in a GCLP-compliant environment.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team, good verbal and written communication, and strong motivation with a dedicated work ethic.

Nice-to-Have

  • Proficiency in high-parameter immune phenotyping of immune cells (isolated from mouse and/or human tissues) by Flow Cytometry (comfortable running at least 10-color panels, including intracellular staining).
  • Experience in assessing T cell function, differentiation, and memory development.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The position has physical requirements of basic office and laboratory work (sitting, standing, and walking).
  • The mental requirements include the ability to analyze data, design experiments, and present complex concepts to colleagues.
