Description

The University of Notre Dame seeks to recruit cell biologists for multiple positions as tenure-track Assistant Professors in the Department of Biological Sciences (http://biology.nd.edu). We are interested in candidates with expertise in cancer, development, stem cells, regeneration, or whose research is at the intersection of these areas.

The successful candidate(s) will bring intellectual curiosity, an innovative research program focused on rigorous analysis of important biological questions, and a collaborative spirit to the department. Successful candidates will join a community of productive, extramurally funded, collegial faculty whose research spans the breadth of the life sciences. It is anticipated that new faculty will develop strong and visible research programs, disseminate their research to the scientific community, and compete successfully for external funding. In addition, new faculty will be expected to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate teaching mission of the Department of Biological Sciences.

There are numerous opportunities for faculty to interact with colleagues in multiple scientific disciplines. The Notre Dame research community is supported by various Centers and Institutes including: the Center for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, Harper Cancer Research Institute, Boler-Parseghian Center for Rare & Neglected Diseases, Eck Institute for Global Health, Keck Center for Transgene Research, and the Warren Center for Drug Discovery. Opportunities also exist for collaboration with faculty at the adjoining Indiana University School of Medicine-South Bend and through the NIH-funded Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI), which is a statewide research partnership between Indiana University, Purdue University, and the University of Notre Dame.

Numerous on campus facilities support the research programs of our faculty including: the AAALAC-accredited Freimann Life Science Center for animal studies, the Center for Zebrafish Research, the Integrated Imaging Facility with robust in vitro and in vivo imaging capacity, the Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics Facility, the Genomics & Bioinformatics Core Facility, and the Center for Research Computing.
