Mayo Clinic has a large number of world class laboratory and state-of-the-art shared resource facilities. We offer a highly competitive compensation package with sustained intramural funding, capital equipment funding, and technical and computational resources.

Mayo Clinic offers an outstanding, comprehensive benefits package that includes plenty of options for medical, dental and vision care; flexible spending accounts; life insurance; short and long term disability coverage; generous time away; and more! We are proud to be among the few U.S. companies to provide a pension benefit at no cost to employees plus you can add the Mayo 403(b) plan which features an employer match.

The research shield at Mayo Clinic is committed to creating a diverse environment and recognizes that diverse research teams make better decisions, are more equipped to solve complex problems and adapt to change, and produce better outcomes.  That diversity is about opening up to unconventional ideas that create better outcomes, while recognizing colleagues' unique contributions.

The Department of Molecular Medicine is seeking candidates for a faculty position (equivalent of tenure track) to study new and emerging pathogens with a focus on BSL3 level pathogens.  Examples of responsive research areas include but are not limited to: (i) Basic virology (ii) Viral: host pathogenesis, (iii) Immunovirology (iv) Novel approaches to treatment. Other research topics will be entertained, but to be competitive they must be in alignment with understanding determinants of pathogen biology pathogenesis or treatment.

The Department of Molecular Medicine is actively engaged in research and education to build a premier virus, gene and cell therapy program and to translate promising therapeutics from bench to bedside in a timely manner. This recruitment is part of the Mayo Clinic strategic plan for 2030 to cure, connect, and transform healthcare. We seek an individual who has an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD with additional postdoctoral training that includes work in an appropriate, related discipline. We are particularly interested in applications from those who demonstrate a diverse understanding of biology and disease and who have creativity to pursue original transformative research to ameliorate human disease.  Prior research accomplishment as evidenced by high quality publications, and prior success in peer reviewed funding is essential. Other desirable attributes include the ability to articulate a clear and competitive research plan; strong leadership qualities; success in teaching, mentoring, and advising; and the ability to succeed in a collaborative work environment. Mayo Clinic is located in the heart of downtown Rochester, Minnesota, a vibrant, friendly city that provides a highly livable environment for more than 34,000 Mayo staff and students. The city is consistently ranked among the best places to live in the United States because of its affordable cost of living, healthy lifestyle, excellent school systems and exceptionally high quality of life.
