The laboratory of Dr. Jan Kitajewski in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at UIC is seeking motivated postdoctoral scientists to lead one of two projects, with opportunities to develop unique programs in vascular physiology and disease.

  • Notch signaling in tumor and inflammatory angiogenesis. The project defines mechanisms by which Notch regulates tumor and inflammation-driven angiogenesis using genetic mouse models and in vitro evaluation of Notch signaling and function in the endothelial response to inflammation. Opportunity to join a team evaluating a lead agent that targets Notch function in cancer. Expertise in tumor biology, microenvironment, inflammation, and/or pathological angiogenesis will be strongly considered.

  • CLIC function in Endothelial GPCR signaling. The project identifies mechanisms of action for novel endothelial GPCR effector proteins; CLIC1 & CLIC4. The research utilizes biochemical and cell-based biosensor signaling assays, along with mouse models to study how CLICs function in endothelium.  Expertise in cell biology, signal transduction, biosensors, and/or endothelial function will be strongly considered.

The Kitajewski lab is a multidisciplinary group investigating physiological and pathological angiogenic signaling with complementary in vitro, in vivo, and in silico approaches. The University of Illinois in Chicago offers outstanding vascular and cancer biology communities, and established networks for collaborations in Great Lakes region. A vibrant and affordable city, Chicago offers world-class cultural institutions, walkable neighborhoods, and diverse culinary experiences.

Candidates must have a doctoral, medical, or MD/PhD degree, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong record of publication. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Email curriculum vitae, brief statement of experience, and names of three references to: Dr. Jan Kitajewski at kitaj@uic.edu and Dr. Naiche Adler at naiche@uic.edu.

The University of Illinois at Chicago is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer. Minorities, women, veterans and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply. The University of Illinois may conduct background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer.
