The Department of Natural Sciences in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters (CASL) invites applications from well-qualified candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biochemistry beginning September 2022.  Candidates should  have broad training in biochemistry and demonstrated research productivity.  Department faculty follow the teacher – scholar model.  Accordingly, the successful candidate is expected to develop a productive research program that meaningfully engages undergraduate students and leads to peer‐reviewed publications and applications for extramural funding.  While the area of research specialization is open, structural, carbohydrate and physiological biochemistry are of particular interest.  Start‐up funding and a research laboratory in our recently renovated Natural Science Building will be provided.  Also expected is dynamic teaching involving active learning which promotes problem solving.  Teaching duties include intermediate and upper-level lecture and laboratory courses in biochemistry.  Opportunities exist for developing new courses within the applicant’s specialty. The University of Michigan-Dearborn is primarily an undergraduate institution. Qualifications

A doctoral degree in biochemistry or a closely related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and relevant post-doctoral experience.
