Managing Director: Recombinant Protein Production Core
Chemistry of Life Processes Institute, Northwestern University

Northwestern University’s Recombinant Protein Production Core (rPPC) invites applications for the position of Managing Director.  This is a senior thought leader position that is responsible for implementing the strategic objectives under the guidance of faculty directors Michael Jewett and Keith Tyo.  rPPC provides quality controlled recombinant proteins for researchers within the Northwestern community and services academic and industry researchers outside of Northwestern University.  rPPC operates on two service models: (1) Training - researchers to use specialized bioreactor systems to produce their proteins, and (2) Production - rPPC staff perform expression and purification of recombinant or synthetic biologics themselves, including potential therapeutic proteins and peptides.

Reporting directly to the rPPC Directors, the Managing Director is responsible for management of the day-to-day scientific operations, core personnel, instrument acquisition and maintenance, budgeting and financial performance; preparation of materials for grant applications, publications, and presentations; and development and implementation of the core’s education and outreach activities.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in the life sciences with expertise in bacterial protein expression and purification and at least three years of related work experience. Previous management experience is an asset.

To apply, please submit a letter of application, curriculum vita, and three letters of reference to Dr. Sheila Judge (s-judge@northwestern.edu), Senior Director for Research, Education and Administration, Chemistry of Life Processes Institute. Women and members of underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
