The Translational PET Imaging lab is looking for an outstanding postdoc in PET radiochemistry, with excellent scientific track-record and organizational skills, to work in a leading research environment with scientists of diverse and international background.

The position will be based in the Translational PET Imaging research group at Uppsala University and Science for Life Laboratory. The research group focuses on development of molecular imaging methodologies for improved diagnosis, management and treatment of disease (https://www.ilk.uu.se/research-groups/translational-imaging/). The research group is part of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and currently consists of 5 senior and 5 junior scientists, with diverse international backgrounds.

Project description: The postdoc will work in projects to develop and evaluate PET radiopharmaceuticals for in vivo molecular imaging of processes in metabolic disease and oncology. The radiopharmaceutical development will include radiometal or fluorine-18 radiolabeling of organic molecules and peptides. The applicant will collaborate with a team of biologists for the in vitro evaluation and in vivo evaluation of the radiopharmaceuticals. The exact description of the tasks depends on the individual skills and research interests of the applicant.

Duties: The main duties of the applicant are to participate in and lead research projects. The work duties can also include supervision of students, teaching and other departmental duties (no more than 20%).

Requirements: We welcome applications from candidates that have (or soon will have) a PhD degree in radiochemistry or chemistry or related fields, within a maximum of three (3) years before the final application date. During certain circumstances, an earlier PhD can be acceptable. Certain circumstances include leave due to illness, parental leave, work in trade unions, etc.

The applicant must have excellent skills in communication and teamwork, and be fluent in English, with proficiency preferably demonstrated by an internationally recognized test such as TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent.

The applicant is expected to work independently and be able to take own initiatives. The assessment of applications is based primarily on the applicant’s ability to conduct independent research based on scientific skill.

Additional qualifications: Previous experience of radiolabelling of organic molecules or peptides is an advantage. Documented courses in radiation protection and/or laboratory animal science are an advantage.
