The Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute (GCCRI) at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is looking for an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to work in the laboratory of Dr. Alex Bishop. Position is funded by NIH and SU2C grants, though training and other fellowship opportunities are available.
We are seeking a motivated, creative postdoctoral fellow to work on R-loops and transcriptional regulation in DNA damage response and cancer. The candidate will be expected to take a lead role in driving their project, while working closely with other members of the lab and interacting with collaborators. We are a highly dynamic interactive team working to synergistically drive each individual’s projects using a multitude of state-of-the-art techniques and systems. Our lab is particularly interested in addressing the interface between replication stress, homologous recombination, and transcription stress in a variety of settings.
The candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D. in a relevant field preferably with zero to four years of postdoctoral experience. Applicants should have excellent communication skills and ability to conduct research independently. The ideal candidates would have experience in using molecular biology and cell biology. Familiarity with biochemical methods is desired, experience with mouse xenografts and pharmacological agents in vivo is a plus. Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments; starting at NIH pay scale. Additional information regarding the Bishop lab and scientific interests can be found at: http://gccri.uthscsa.edu/ABishop.html.
