Nationwide Children’s Hospital seeks an outstanding faculty candidate for recruitment at all ranks (assistant, associate or full professor). The individual should direct a research laboratory focused on pediatric pulmonary disease and/or relevant basic science areas.  Scientific areas of particular interest include cystic fibrosis (CF) to join our Cure CF Columbus Research and Development Program (C3 RDP, https://www.curecfcolumbus.org/), severe asthma, or primary ciliary dyskinesia. A track record of basic, translational, or clinical research is desired. The position will focus on expanding efforts in immunology, microbiology, and/or cell or gene therapy-based approaches to treating CF and other chronic lung diseases. 

 

The new faculty member will be expected to be an active participant in advancing the care of children with lung disorders by establishing an impactful and independent research program supported by extramural funding, developing basic and translational scientific collaborations, providing mentorship to colleagues, training the next generation of researchers, and participating in division  and research institute activities. The successful candidate should have an MD, MD/PhD, PhD, or equivalent degree, and will have a strong track record for publication in quality journals and current federal grant funding.

 

The Abigail Wexner Research Institute is ranked sixth nationally in NIH funding among free-standing children’s hospitals. Research programs are organized into 13 multidisciplinary Centers of Emphasis structured to encourage collaboration, facilitate team science and foster creativity.  The candidate’s center of emphasis would be commiserate with their research area of emphasis. Principal investigators are also faculty members at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and most are members of The Ohio State University, Department of Pediatrics and graduate programs at the university.
